The Executive Director (ED) serves as the key leader of this nonprofit organization, working closely with the Board of Directors to guide its overall direction and success. This role encompasses overseeing administration, programs, and the implementation of the strategic plan. Additionally, the ED plays a vital role in fundraising, marketing, and fostering meaningful connections within the community.

Your day to day:
The Executive Director (ED) provides visionary leadership and effective management to ensure the organization achieves its mission and strategic goals. This includes maintaining program excellence, accurate financial practices, and strong communications, fundraising, and administration evaluation systems. The ED will energize and engage volunteers, board members, partners, and funders while fostering collaboration and support for the organization’s initiatives. They will work closely with the Board of Directors, serving as a key advisor and supporting board involvement in strategic planning and operations. The ED is responsible for hiring, coaching, and retaining a high-performing volunteer team (and staff, as applicable), and for evaluating program outcomes to communicate successes to stakeholders. Additionally, they will maintain strong relationships with community partners, oversee day-to-day operations, and implement systems to assess and align services with organizational impact and financial sustainability. As the primary spokesperson, the ED represents the organization to constituents, the media, and the broader community.
 
The Executive Director (ED) ensures the financial health and sustainability of the organization by maintaining fiscal integrity through accurate financial reporting, including monthly statements, annual budgets, and tax filings. The ED is responsible for expanding revenue streams through diverse fundraising activities, including local, state, and federal grants, while also growing and maintaining a robust donor database. They will develop and execute a comprehensive 3-year Fund Development Plan to support and enhance program operations. Additionally, the ED will strengthen the organization’s communications strategy, leveraging web presence, social media, and community networking to increase awareness of the organization’s impact. By building and maintaining external relationships, the ED will identify and pursue new opportunities to advance the organization’s mission.
 
The Executive Director (ED) leads strategic planning efforts, ensuring effective implementation and integration across the organization. They evaluate existing systems and programs for alignment with the core mission and measurable impact, making informed decisions to cut, reduce, or expand initiatives accordingly. Additionally, the ED strengthens and grows partnerships, donor relationships, and community and political networks to support the organization’s mission and long-term success.
 
The Executive Director (ED) will collaborate closely with the Board of Directors on the construction and opening of the organization’s new facility, which is projected to be completed in autumn 2025. While the majority of funding for the project has been secured, the ED may be involved in securing additional resources if needed. The ED will also play a key role in ensuring a smooth transition from the current facility to the new one, supporting the organization’s operational and strategic needs during this pivotal time.
 
You need:  
  • B Sc. or B.A. with two years of nonprofit experience preferred.  Five years of nonprofit management experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
  • Valid driving license, reliable transportation, and sufficient insurance.  
  • Commitment to the mission of the organization
  • Demonstrated hands-on budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making, and reporting.
  • Proven organizational abilities for planning, delegation, program development, and multi-tasking.
  • Ability to convey a vision of the organization’s strategic future to volunteer staff, Board, community, and donors.
  • Experience with fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to the nonprofit sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  
  • Excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary skills.
  • Self-starter with the capacity to problem-solve.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
Preferred:
  • 5 or more years of senior nonprofit management experience.
  • Past documented success working with a Board of Directors.
  • 1-year executive leadership/supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency with social media.
  • Some period of residency in the Mat-Su.
