About the Role
Reporting directly to the President, the HR Generalist will support and guide the management team on a wide range of human resources matters. The role is responsible for administering HR programs in coordination with payroll and leadership, representing the company in the labor market, and providing day-to-day HR support to employees. This is a people-focused position with meaningful impact across the organization, helping ensure a positive, productive work environment while advancing broader company goals.

Your day-to-day:
Guidance and Support to Management
The HR Generalist provides day-to-day guidance to management on employment policies and supports the implementation of new or updated policies. They assist supervisors in interpreting and applying policies while ensuring compliance with employment laws.

Throughout the hiring process, the HR Generalist partners with managers to confirm job descriptions and pay ranges, develop effective postings, source and screen candidates, and guide interview and selection efforts. They serve as the main point of contact for candidates, manage background and reference checks, prepare offer letters, and ensure accurate recordkeeping.
HR Program Administration
This role manages key HR systems and programs that support company operations and employee well-being. They maintain the organization’s compensation structure and job descriptions in partnership with management, ensuring files and safety certifications are up to date. Working closely with the safety team, they help track site-specific safety requirements and collaborate with finance and payroll to administer benefits.
The HR Generalist also manages the company’s HR systems, ensuring correct setup, access, and functionality while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and supporting users through training and troubleshooting.
Representation in the Labor Market & HR Support to Team Members
The HR Generalist represents the company at job fairs and industry events, helping to promote its employment brand and attract qualified candidates. They provide strategic input on branding and rewards to enhance the organization’s presence in the labor market, and develop consistent, well-branded job posting templates to support recruitment efforts.

Internally, the HR Generalist serves as a key resource for employees, communicating policies, benefits, and employment practices clearly and effectively. The HR Generalist also addresses concerns related to discrimination, harassment, or potential ethical violations.
Minimum and Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as HR, business, accounting, or economics
- A minimum of two years of HR experience in a generalist, administrative, specialist, or comparable role
- SHRM-CP or comparable certification
- Resident of Alaska and U.S citizen or legal status to work in the U.S.
- Valid AK driver’s license, proof of insurance, and vehicle
- Experience in the construction industry is preferred
- Comparable combinations of education, experience, and certifications may be considered.

- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Planner, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook; HRIS and talent management systems; internet research and applications; web meetings; and AI applications for business.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. on an occasional basis
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities
- Must be able to travel frequently by vehicle within the Matsu-Anchorage area to a variety of job sites, and to travel occasionally to Fairbanks and rural communities by air.
