We strengthen museums, so they can better serve their communities. We support every museum and cultural center in Alaska from Utqiagvik to Ketchikan, Unalaska, and everywhere in between.
Alaska’s museums and cultural centers aren’t relics frozen in time — they’re dynamic forces propelling us toward an enriched future, culturally and economically. Engaging with and contributing to museums helps preserve the past and power the future. As the statewide museum association, we strengthen museums and cultural centers through funding, research, statewide initiatives, advocacy, professional development, information sharing, and networking. Stronger museums and cultural centers lead to vibrant communities with more robust economies, higher quality of life, and diverse educational opportunities. Museums Alaska's journey began in the late 1970s as a committee of the Alaska Historical Society. We officially became a non-profit organization in 1983. For over four decades, our commitment to strengthening museums and cultural centers in Alaska has grown, propelling us into a new era of growth and impact.
We have a mailbox at the Anchorage Museum, but do the majority of our work online. If you'd like to meet, please contact us and we'll set a location.
