Job Information

This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.
 
DEPARTMENT: Parks and Recreation
HOURS OF WORK: Monday - Friday 8am-4:30pm
LOCATION: 12001 Business Blvd, Ste. 123, Eagle River 

Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40.

Example of Duties

This is a professional level position within the Eagle River/Chugiak Division of the Parks & Recreation Department. Under general direction, is responsible for participation in the formulation and administration of park maintenance, planning and development projects, the administration of contracts, budgets, and work programs, for performance of the more difficult and complex park planning and development work. This position requires strong technical skills and a background in planning and/or landscape architecture. This position involves but is not limited to project management of park and trail development projects, both in house and under contract to design consultants. Park and Facility inspections as needed. Coordination of the public involvement and project review process is required. Lead responsibility of multi-disciplinary park project staff and volunteers. This position is also involved in the planning and implementation process of department held events and public gatherings within the parks and other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and seven (7) years of experience in landscape design, engineering, construction administration, or a related field of which one (1) year must have been as a Landscape Architect with the Municipality of Anchorage or equivalent elsewhere.

OR

Associate’s degree in Landscape Architecture or a related discipline and five (5) years of experience in landscape design, engineering, construction administration, or a related field; one (1) year of which must have been as a Landscape Architect with the Municipality of Anchorage or equivalent elsewhere.

OR

Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture or a related discipline and three (3) years of experience in landscape design, engineering, construction administration, or a related field; one (1) year of which must have been as a Landscape Architect with the Municipality of Anchorage or equivalent elsewhere.

Must possess and/or obtain:
-Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
