Job Information

Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee. 

This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA. If the person selected is not affiliated with the AMEA Union, he or she must become a member in good standing within 31 days of beginning work.

DEPARTMENT: Public Transportation

HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm

LOCATION: 3600 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave.

Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40.

Example of Duties

The Procurement Specialist is the Public Transportation Department (PTD) subject matter expert as it relates to PTD procurements, 
assets, and contract administration. 

The Procurement Specialist will enter shopping carts for federal procurements into SAP, assist with non-federal shopping carts as 
needed, participate in the maintenance of PTD's capital projects system. Interprets and communicates complex regulations to 
department staff in accordance with federal, state and local regulations; ensures compliance of department purchasing and 
contract activities. Monitors and audits capital project activity. Coordinate annual and triennial audit activities in relation to 
Procurement, Contracts, Capital Projects, Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE), and Asset Management. Coordinates DBE 
biannual reporting with Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and municipal departments; participates in asset oversight and 
coordination of physical inventory records; performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

 

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and seven (7years of experience in accounting, payroll, or similar office responsibility.

OR

Associate’s degree in accounting, Economics, Management, Business Administration or a related discipline and five (5) years of professional accounting work experience.

OR

A certificate as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and three (3) years of professional accounting work experience.


OR

 
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Economics, Management, Business Administration or a related discipline and three (3) years of professional accounting work experience.
 
Must possess and/or obtain:
  • Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
