ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Alaska Chamber recently bestowed the prestigious Ted Stevens Public Service Award upon Cheryl Frasca. Described as a public service icon, Frasca’s track record of civic engagement spans decades and industries.

Frasca was presented the award at the Chamber’s 2024 Legislative Fly-In in Juneau. The Alaska Chamber presents the Ted Stevens Public Service Award to individuals or groups who have made substantial contributions of statewide significance while working in public service. Of note, the award is not given annually, but only when a strong, compelling case is made for a deserving Alaskan to receive it. In 2022, Frasca retired from her position as director of Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for the Municipality of Anchorage. It was her third time holding that position for the city, having previously served under Mayors Wuerch and Sullivan, respectively. She also worked as the state’s Director of OMB under Governor Frank Murkowski. Frasca has served on or led a number of boards and advocacy campaigns over her 40-year public service career. She currently donates her time and expertise to the board of Commonwealth North, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating Alaskans about public policy issues.

“Cheryl believes in the power of an informed public to advocate for and demand good public policy from its leaders,” said Kati Capozzi, Alaska Chamber President and CEO. “Her work also demonstrates a deeply held core belief that citizens are savvy and sensical enough to understand our state’s challenges when presented with unbiased, factual information. There is no question our state and generations of leaders have benefitted from her wisdom and commitment to the causes she holds dear.” Frasca’s integrity, dedication and steadfastness have left an indelible mark on her community. In presenting Frasca with the Ted Stevens Public Service Award, the Alaska Chamber recognizes her commitment to civic engagement.
