ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The University of Alaska Anchorage Office of Alumni and Community Engagement and the UAA Alumni Association are now accepting nominations for the annual Alumni of Distinction awards. Established in 2010, the Alumni of Distinction awards recognize and celebrate alumni who have made important contributions in their communities and whose actions honor the legacy of excellence at UAA. Three award categories are available:
Alumni of Achievement:
Awarded to an alumnus or alumna who has attained prominence through their industry, profession or voluntary service and demonstrates sustained excellence, integrity, motivation and dedication in the sphere of their expertise. There is an expectation that the nominee is in the middle or toward the sunset of what is, or has been, a long-term distinguished career or role.
Alumni Humanitarian:
Awarded to an alumnus or alumna who has made a positive and significant impact in the lives of others. This may be through voluntary service or a chosen profession. The recipient exhibits integrity and a commitment to service that is long-standing.
Alumni Emerging Leader:
Awarded to an alumnus or alumna who has made a positive impact in his or her community, industry or profession. There is an expectation that the nominee is in the beginning or middle of what will be a long-term distinguished career or role.
