Greetings Community Members,
The Anchorage School Board's approval of our master plan marks an exciting milestone: the official launch of the Academies of Anchorage (AoA)! This fall, all incoming freshmen at our eight comprehensive high schools will begin their journey through the Freshman Academy, including a career exploration course, an industry career expo, and a visit to a local college. This achievement is a testament to the unwavering dedication and hard work of countless community members who have supported this initiative.
The Academies of Anchorage is partnering with the Municipality of Anchorage to host the first annual Freshman Career Expo. This event will showcase diverse local career opportunities, helping approximately 4,000 ASD freshmen explore their options and make informed choices within the AoA model. We would be honored to have your participation in this exciting event!

- Career Exploration: Unlike a typical job fair where students visit companies, the career fair allows businesses to collaborate by industry to present career options for students to explore.
- Interactive Learning: Exhibits aim to provide interactive opportunities to explore various careers.
- Student Engagement: We aim to show 9th-grade students how their studies connect to their interests and future career opportunities.
- Workforce Preparation: The event helps students explore real-life opportunities and choose their AoA career pathway.

- Time: Students will start arriving at 10 am, with the last group leaving at 2:30 pm.
