Incentives for Market-Rate Attainable Housing Development
Medium-priced housing sold under $300,000 has dramatically decreased in the last 10 years
ACDA has released its report on "Incentives for Market-Rate Attainable Housing Development" today which reviews trends in the last decade.
Mike Robbins, Executive Director for ACDA said, “With the assistance from McKinley Research, a valuable document has been produced that addresses development obstacles and what action our City and Assembly can take now to move the needle to increase housing development in the Anchorage Bowl.”
McKinley Research conducted interviews with local developers and reviewed other city’s processes in comparison. An Anchorage Developer was quoted, “The same project that takes one year to build in the [Mat-Su] Valley takes two years in Anchorage and adds over $100,000 to the project cost. It’s the exact same houses.”
Mike Robbins will present the report at the Housing Summit, on Friday, November 3, 2023, alongside other local experts located at UAA’s Student Union, 2901 Spirit Way, starting at 9:45 a.m.
Key takeaways of the presentation will be the following: Financial Incentives, Process Improvements, Zoning Changes, and Sustainable Attainability.
