Downtown Anchorage is shining brighter this winter as EasyPark installs 40 illuminated LED snowflakes along Fourth Avenue from A Street to E Street, adding seasonal charm and warmth to one of Anchorage’s most iconic streets.

The snowflake installation complements other Park It Forward-supported projects, including the installation of the Anchorage Mushing District Arch and Illuminate Anchorage’s City of Lights program, which together are transforming downtown through light, art, and community storytelling.

“These snowflakes show how everyday parking can create meaningful change downtown,” said Jeff Read, Parking Director of EasyPark. “Through Park It Forward, we’re reinvesting parking revenue into projects that make downtown more welcoming, more walkable, and more memorable—especially during the winter months.”

This winter, the Municipality of Anchorage is also supporting expanded downtown lighting efforts, recognizing that lighting plays a key role in making downtown safer and more inviting. Fees will be waived for downtown businesses that want to hang string lights over sidewalks—making it easier for private partners to join in brightening the city.  To get started, fill out the sidewalk encroachment permit and send it to MOAROWrequests@muni.org and cc graham.downey@anchorageak.gov.
Together, these public and private efforts reflect a shared commitment to downtown that feels vibrant, welcoming, and alive throughout the winter season.
