Our client: Seeking a well-connected individual to interact with local, state, and federal legislative bodies and government agencies, representing and protecting organizational business plans and interests. The successful candidate will network with current and potential commercial customers to identify opportunities for increased service and partnering opportunities within the service area, and Alaska as a whole.

- Identify federal and state legislative issues affecting the organization; seek resolutions, introduce legislative and public policy changes as required
- Build and maintain relationships with members of federal, state, and local government entities and agencies
- Communicate organizational views, and work with others to achieve common interests
- Coordinate communication activities of project managers with state and local government and councils
- Join trade associations and industry committees and seek leadership roles
- Assist with grant procurement efforts, research grants available
- Assist with business development and key account activities, network with current and potential commercial customers in the service areas and Alaska as a whole
- Research and monitor government legislation and policy potentially affecting the organization's business and membership
- With senior leadership, identify priority legislation and government relation issues potentially impacting the organization, and introduce public policy changes supporting organizational operations
- Research, prepare briefings and comment on policy documents, to share at local, state and federal levels regarding the impact of proposed legislative changes on business practices and strategic initiatives
- Develop material in support of organizational government relations including legislative summaries, factsheets, testimony, reports, letters
- Collaborate with corporate communications department; develop public relations materials and social media content
- Act as Board representative on the Electric Reliability Organization/Railbelt Reliability council
- Conduct and manage special projects
- Other duties as assigned

- Thorough knowledge of communication tools and tactics, and the most effective way to apply them to strategic goals
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively to all levels of audiences

- Above average verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent leadership, mentoring, and facilitation skills
