Open to the public, Plumbers and Pipefitters (Local 367) members, and any current Municipal Employees.


This position is represented by the Plumbers & Steamfitters, Local 367, and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the Union.
 

DEPARTMENT: Maintenance & Operations

HOURS OF WORK: 4/10s; Monday to Thursday / Tuesday - Friday; 7:00 am to 5:30 pm

LOCATION: 3640 E Tudor Road

 

Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.

 

To be considered for employment, applicants must be legally authorized to work and accept employment in the United States. The Municipality of Anchorage is not able to provide any type of sponsorship, including Student Visas and Employment Visas, under any circumstances.

 

Example of Duties

Perform all necessary plumbing and heating tasks associated with Facility Maintenance in facilities, pools, and parks throughout the Municipality, including troubleshooting and repairing fixtures, irrigation systems, swimming pools, boilers, gas supply, water supply, and drain systems. Also includes maintaining HVAC systems to include monitoring, calibrating and repairing of controls on electronic, pneumatic, and computerized systems. Perform other required duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and five (5) years of journeyman plumber experience, which may include a combination of experience and completion of an apprenticeship or training program in plumbing sufficient to equal five (5) years' experience.

Must possess and/or obtain:

  • State of Alaska Department of Labor Certificate of Fitness at time of hire.
  • Municipality of Anchorage Plumbing License at time of hire.
  • Valid State of Alaska Driver's License and satisfactory driving record at time of hire 
  • Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check at time of hire.

Preference:
  • Backflow prevention certification and repair.
