Job Information

 

Open to the general public and any current Municipality of Anchorage employee.  

This position is represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1547 (Technicians) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1547 (Technicians).

DEPARTMENT: Public Transportation
HOURS OF WORK: Shifts vary, 40 hours per week between Monday and Sunday (Graveyard shift included)
LOCATION OF WORK: 3701 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive
 

To be considered for employment, applicants must be legally authorized to work and accept employment in the United States. The Municipality of Anchorage is not able to provide any type of sponsorship, including Student Visas and Employment Visas, under any circumstances.

Applicants shall be referred and considered for this position in the order as follows per the Collective Bargaining Agreement:

  • Internal applicants currently working under the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers - Technicians (IBEW-Tech), Local 1547 Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Local union dispatched applicants
  • External applicants and other current Municipal employees not covered under this agreement

 

Example of Duties

Responsible for the consistent and detailed cleaning of vehicle interiors on Public Transportation Department buses. Clean exterior and interior, fuel and service the staff, shop and cutaways (22' units). Provide consistent methods to effectively clean a variety of finishes. Apply attention to detail to ensure that all vehicles receive a consistent level of cleaning. Identify methods and techniques to improve the efficiency while maintaining cleanliness and appearance of finishes. Also cleans floors, equipment, and areas within the maintenance buildings. 

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

 

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and experience in the operation of small hand tools and performing unskilled heavy manual labor.

All applicants must possess and/or obtain:

  • Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.

Preferences:
 
  • Experience in detailing and/or servicing vehicles in a fleet type environment Industrial cleaning experience.
