Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.

 

DEPARTMENT: Planning, Development, and Public Works

HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
LOCATION: 4700 Elmore Road

 

This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the Union.

 

Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40.

 

To be considered for employment, applicants must be legally authorized to work and accept employment in the United States. The Municipality of Anchorage is not able to provide any type of sponsorship, including Student Visas and Employment Visas, under any circumstances.

 

Example of Duties

Under general supervision, responsible for the advanced activities associated with Project Costing for all Capital projects managed by Project Management and Engineering. Maintain complete, accurate, and timely cost accounting records for Municipal construction projects in accordance with government accounting standards. Verifies funds for expenditures. Provides financial controls through the participation and processing of accounts payables, vouchers, purchasing requisitions, and journal entries. Processes contracts, change orders, agreements, and amendments. Performs other duties as assigned to support the department.

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and six (6) years of professional accounting, payroll, or similar work experience.

OR

Associate’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline, and four (4) years of professional accounting, payroll, or similar work experience.

OR

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline, and two (2) years of professional accounting, payroll, or similar work experience.

OR

A certificate as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and two (2) years of professional accounting, payroll, or similar work experience.

Preference:

  • Experience with SAP or other financial software is preferred but not mandatory.
