ABOUT THE OLYMPIANS

First time Olympian Reese Hanneman competed for the gold in the Men's Cross-Country Skiing event at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The Fairbanks, Alaska native won his first national title in 2016 when he skied to first place in the 1.5km Freestyle Sprint at the US National Country Championships in Houghton, Michigan.

Sadie Bjornsen has notched several top-10 World Cup finishes and consistent World Cup points over the last three seasons. Her breakthrough year during the Sochi Olympic season saw her top results primarily in classic events, but this season was balanced across disciplines and between sprint and distance racing. Bjornsen’s best result of the 2015-16 season was in the 4x5k relay in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic, where the team skied to a historic second-place finish. It was the best ever U.S. women’s relay finish, as strong opening classic legs—one skied by Bjornsen—set the team up for success.

After snagging three national titles and attending the World Championships in Falun in 2014-15, Rosie Brennan carried the momentum into her first full World Cup circuit in 2015-16. Early in the season, Brennan helped the women’s team ski to third place in a 4x5k relay in Lillehammer—her first World Cup podium. Throughout the rest of the season, Brennan was on the cusp of World Cup points, until the Ski Tour Canada where she snatched several top-30 and top-25 results. She trains with the Alaska Pacific University nordic team throughout the summer months.
