Name: "Make it Monday" forum - Senior Housing Trends and Options
Date: March 5, 2018
Time: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM AKST
Registration: Online registration for this event has closed.
Event Description:

Anchorage is the fastest-growing senior housing market in the country. Lee Cory, an industry veteran, will share his insights on the state of senior housing, issues and options - both nationally and locally.

Jim McCall of the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation will also be in attendance to talk about the local market.

One challenge to housing in Alaska is more aging Alaskans - this according to a 2018 Housing Assessment completed for Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC), the state’s housing financing agency. The Assessment captured available housing data and findings, including the following regarding senior housing trends:
  • As Alaskans age, demand for senior facility beds increases. Demand is expected to double in the next 12 years. To keep up, 318 beds must be added annually.
  • As Alaska’s population ages and in some cases, shifts, construction in some communities is insufficient to maintain pace.
The report, in tandem with AHFC’s Senior Housing Office, offers the public a snapshot of housing characteristics and trends across the state and provides data that informs resource allocation, program management and evaluation decisions.

The forum's new member introduction will feature Rob Boyer, Major Accounts Manager at Office Depot OfficeMAX Business Solutions Division.
