Ryan Swartwood joined the UAA athletic staff as the Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs during the 2018-19 athletic season.
Swartwood came north after serving as the Associate Athletic Director for Administration at Cal State Northridge.
During his time at Northridge, Swartwood managed and supervised the areas of contract administration and the operation of the athletics facilities. He handled oversight of the sports medicine and sports performance areas and was a sport program administrator for multiple programs.
Prior to his time at Northridge, Swartwood worked in the compliance office at the University of Oklahoma for three years and was a legal intern with the Oakland Raiders.
Swartwood earned a bachelor’s degree in history from San Diego State University, a master’s degree in adult and higher education from the University of Oklahoma and a juris doctorate from Arizona State University.
