Demetria Veasy
As the daughter of a U.S. Army Veteran, Demetria moved to Alaska in November 1988, and has been an Alaskan resident for almost 36 years.  She has served as a State of Alaska employee for 20 years, with 13 out of those 20 years being with the Department of Labor & Workforce Development.  Her career with the Department of Labor started in the Fairbanks Job Center where she worked as an Employment Security Specialist, and was then quickly promoted to a Career Development Specialist (Case Manager) with Career Support & Training Services.  She relocated to Anchorage and transferred to the Midtown Job Center in July 2014, where she continued her work as a Case Manager.  In April 2016, she was promoted to the Supervisor of Career Support and Training Services.  In June 2018, she was promoted to the Job Center Manager position in the Midtown Job Center, and eventually started managing the Muldoon Job Center as well.  In February 2020, she became the Regional Manager of the Anchorage/MatSu Economic Region, overseeing all programs and operations for the Midtown, Muldoon and MatSu Job Centers.  In January 2022, she was promoted to Assistant Director of Workforce Services and Development overseeing all job center operations statewide, the Employment & Training Technical Unit, and Adult Education.  As an agent of the State, she has provided support to many individuals in successfully achieving their career goals.  Due to her broad scope of work within the Department of Labor, she is often called upon to give presentations and facilitate workshops/trainings.  Demetria has a passion for helping people, and takes pride in the work she’s doing as a Workforce Development Professional.
