Time: 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM AKDT

Event Description:

Over the last several years, MTA has grown from its base in the Mat-Su Valley to become a statewide telecommunications carrier. MTA brings new opportunities to commercial and government entities across the state, with a network that extends from Anchorage throughout Fairbanks and down the ALCAN, a subsea path to Portland, and Alaska’s first terrestrial paths to Seattle and Chicago. When their Chicago connection goes live this month, Alaska will benefit from the most survivable and fastest connection to the Midwest and East Coast.

PLUS, a member presentation from Alaska EXCEL on the upcoming Great Alaska Duck Race.

Francis LaChapelle serves as Vice President at MTA, responsible for business development and the strategic management of carrier and wholesale relationships.  Previously, Mr. LaChapelle was at GCI in various leadership roles in the public sector and wholesale. Prior to that, he served as Vice President at AT&T Alascom managing wholesale and commercial sales.  Mr. LaChapelle came to Alaska over 25 years ago and cofounded a company which he later sold to TelAlaska, starting his career in telecommunications. He has served on the board of the Food Bank of Alaska, the Resource Development Council for Alaska, and as a member of the Communications Sub-Committee of the Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council.  Mr. LaChapelle received a B.A. from Willamette University, an M.A. from Stanford University, and completed further post-grad research as an NSF Graduate Research Fellow at The Fletcher School at Tufts University.
