Event Description:

Get an inside look at the marketing and sales strategies driving travel to Anchorage this summer and throughout the year. In a year of uncertainty, Visit Anchorage continues work to maximize the ROI from travel and tourism.

Why does this matter? While a third of the bed tax powers tourism marketing, the rest funds municipal services and public facilities. Find out more about how this idea is structured and what may be in store for the future.

You'll also learn about some of the campaigns and projects running to draw travelers to Anchorage, analyze early market indicators, review performance and preview media efforts now and in the months ahead.

PLUS, a member presentation by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Alaska.

Julie Saupe, President & CEO

Julie Saupe has been with Visit Anchorage for the past 23 years, the last 18 of those as President & CEO. Saupe was named one of Alaska’s Top 40 Under 40 and serves on several local, regional and national boards.

Saupe feels fortunate to be part of an industry and organization that creates value and opportunity for Anchorage’s residents while also providing amazing experiences for visitors from all over the world.

Saupe has been in Alaska since 1975 and found “home” when she moved to Anchorage in 1990. The mountains, parks and trails hold her heart along with the outdoor spirit of Anchorage residents. This time of year, she and her husband Steve can usually be found getting a reindeer dog or an ice cream cone downtown.

David Kasser. Sr. Vice President - Sales

Experienced sales specialist with a demonstrated history of working in the leisure, travel & tourism industry, David Kasser has been an integral part of Visit Anchorage’s leadership team for 20 years.

As Visit Anchorage’s Sr. Vice President – Sales, David and his team lead two distinct efforts for the community:
The firs is focused on travel trade (tour operators and travel advisors, including cruise and airline outreach)
The second is to attract, promote and then serve meetings and conferences in Anchorage.

David approaches his responsibilities with innovation and humor and has been the recipient of many industry awards and honors. David is an avid sailor, beekeeper and is frequently spotted walking his two Scottie dogs downtown or up in the Chugach.
