Anchorage is launching Alaska's first-ever Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) financing program. C-PACE is a form of flexible, long-term, non-recourse financing for clean energy improvements to commercial properties. It funnels private investment into the community through energy efficiency, engineering, and construction jobs. This boosts our local economy by providing finance for these industries and by helping local business owners invest in their property that they may not otherwise be able to afford. During this talk, we'll share more about what C-PACE is, how it came to Alaska and the local impact of having such programs. More info: www.muni.org/CPACE

Shaina has twelve years of experience advancing energy efficiency and renewable energy policies, programs, and projects in Wisconsin and Alaska. As the Energy and Sustainability Manager for the Municipality of Anchorage, Shaina works on a broad range of energy and resiliency goals. She strives to collaborate with the many city departments, community entities and organizations, and local businesses to foster partnerships across disciplines to leverage shared goals. With a focus on equity and high-impact opportunities, she co-led the development and adoption of Anchorage’s first Climate Action Plan and recently helped lead the development of Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy.

Melanie Lucas-Conwell is the 49th State Angel Fund's Portfolio Manager and helps lead the Anchorage Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) program. She has a background in investment and business strategy, execution, product launch and stakeholder management. Prior to this, Melanie worked at Google for seven years, most recently as a Business Product Manager on their AdWords software platform. She's a Board Member for Women in Cleantech & Sustainability and holds an MBA in Sustainable Finance from Presidio Graduate School.
