House Bill 49/Senate Bill 48 are focused on carbon offsets, while House Bill 50/Senate Bill 49 would establish a carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) program.

John Crowther serves as Deputy Commissioner of Alaska’s Department of Natural Resources (DNR), working under Commissioner John Boyle to manage the Division of Oil and Gas, and Division of Geological and Geophysical Surveys – as well as the Office of Project Management and Permitting, and the Mental Health Trust Lands Office. He has worked for the State of Alaska for nearly a decade, serving under seven DNR Commissioners and spending time in the Nation’s Capital as Director of the Governor’s Washington, D.C. office. He also served on the staff of the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and received his law degree from Georgetown University. John grew up in Anchorage and graduated from Grace Christian School.
