Join the Municipality of Anchorage, the Anchorage Coalition to End Homelessness and United Way as Shelly Wozniak of Alaska Public Media helms a discussion on the progress being made, the lives that have been transformed, the plan for Anchorage and how you can play a part.

Shelly Wozniak – Director, FM Programming  - Alaska Public Media
Shelly Wozniak is an award-winning journalist and communications professional recently returning to Alaska Public Media as the Director of FM Programming. Alaska Public Media listeners may remember Wozniak as the original host of the Public Radio News Directors Incorporated (PRNDI) award-winning program AK. While at AKPM, Michelle also served as an audio engineer, producer of Talk of Alaska, and was a contributor and fill-in host of Alaska News Nightly. Wozniak began a career in public relations and communications, most recently serving as the senior director of Corporate Communications for NANA Regional Corporation (NANA) and at NANA, she served as the public relations manager for both NANA Development Corporation (NDC) and the Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau (now Visit Anchorage). She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Alaska Pacific University (APU) and is pursuing her MBA in Leadership at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA).

Lisa Caldeira - Program Director, Brother Francis Shelter - Catholic Social Services
Lisa Caldeira has spent 10 years working with impactful organizations serving the most vulnerable members of their respective communities. She moved to Anchorage, Alaska to serve as an Americorps VISTA with Catholic Social Services in 2012. She was then hired as a co-program manager at Brother Francis Shelter before becoming its director 3 years ago. Lisa spends oversees the management of the shelter’s operations, personnel and budget; represents the program and agency at stakeholder meetings around the community; and develops and implements new strategizes to meet the demands of homelessness in Anchorage. She is a graduate of Dartmouth College with degrees in Anthropology and Latin American, Latino & Caribbean Studies. And before coming to Anchorage, she worked as a development consultant for not for profit organizations in New York City and as an organizational development advisor for nongovernmental organizations in Maputo, Mozambique.

Larissa Tapia
Larissa Tapia is an administrator for Southcentral Foundation in the Medical Services Division where she oversees multiple clinics including Brother Francis and Covenant House.  She has helped transform these two clinics from an idea to reality in the last year.  She started as a Primary Care Manager for Southcentral Foundation before taking on additional responsibilities.   She has over 20 years of managerial experience in retail and healthcare.  Larissa is currently finishing her Master’s in Business Administration with an emphasis in Leadership from the University of Alaska, Anchorage.

Brian Schaffer – Transition Coordinator – Anchorage Coalition to End Homelessness
Brian with partners across the city to help families find stable housing quickly and increase their level of self-sufficiency to prevent them from returning to homelessness. Previously, he served as the Outreach Pastor at ChangePoint and the Executive Director of New Hope on the Last Frontier where he developed and implemented programs for poverty cycle liberation that connected resources to meet needs through volunteers willing to serve their neighbors through acts of compassion and words of life.  He also serves in volunteer roles as a board member for the Anchorage Cops for Community, Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation center, and chaplain for the Department of Corrections and Office of Children’s Services.  He has a master’s degree in ministerial leadership from Indiana Wesleyan University and is a graduate of the Asset-based Community Development Institute.
