Kincaid Park Master Plan

Project Overview

Anchorage Parks and Recreation is updating the Kincaid Park Master Plan to guide the long-term development, use, and management of one of Anchorage’s largest and most iconic regional parks. A park master plan was originally developed in 1973, expanded on in 1983, and last revised in 2006. Updating the plan will involve a substantial public process, including public open houses, stakeholder engagement, and community outreach, to ensure the master plan reflects a shared vision for the continued evolution of Kincaid Park as a multi-use destination for Anchorage residents and visitors.

Kincaid Park is a 1,500-acre Natural Resource and Special Use Park located in West Anchorage, bounded by Turnagain Arm, the Anchorage International Airport, and residential neighborhoods. Originally developed on a former military reserve site, the park is now one of the most heavily used recreation areas in the Anchorage parks system and provides access to the Coastal Trail and the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge. It offers a unique combination of trail-based recreation, natural habitat, and specialized facilities, including a biathlon range, multi-use stadium, disc golf course, chalet, archery range, motorsports track, lake, Hundeplatz Range, and soccer fields. Kincaid Park serves residents, competitive athletes, tourists, and event organizers, making it one of the city’s most loved recreational spaces.
