Event Description:

In April, we'll be joined by Helena Schmitz, an Alaska Native woman who will share a story about ancestors reburied on the Aleutian Islands.

ABOUT HELENA
"I am the daughter of Ralph and Mary Pagano. I am the Granddaughter of Angeline Hodikoff. I am the Granddaughter of Micheal Hodikoff and his parents, George and Anna Hodikoff.  I started a long overdue nonprofit in 2019 that represents our unrecognized indigenous people, referred to as Saskinax̂. This passion for my people was always there and am really excited to be able to share these stories with the world.  I will be telling the story and history of the Saskinax̂, the projects we have worked on, and the projects we are currently working on. But in particular, I will show some photos of the region. There are very few people who know about Attu and that region. I will be speaking about the Saskinam tanamlan region and am bringing awareness to this gorgeous part of the world."

The Diversity Committee. Our mission is to better serve and advocate for the business community by becoming a more open, inclusive, and diverse organization reflective of the make-up of Anchorage. To accomplish this we envision a board that reflects the demographics of our city and a growing membership of businesses representing the diversity of our business owners and entrepreneurs.

Please join us at the next Anchorage Chamber Diversity Committee meeting. All members and non-members are welcome to attend and share ideas to advance our diversity mission.
