Erika Smith serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Credit Union 1, where she leads teams across Member Experience, Digital Experience, Employee Development, Product Development & Facilities/Expansion. Her leadership centers on building strong people, improving processes, and creating meaningful experiences for members and employees throughout Alaska.

Raised on the Kenai Peninsula, Erika carries a deep love for the outdoors and the communities that shape Alaska’s identity. She enjoys cross-country skiing, boating, and exploring remote parts of the state with her partner, Derek, and their daughter, Harbor. That connection to Alaska’s landscape keeps her grounded, curious, and committed to helping Alaskans thrive.

Erika holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Nelson University in Texas. She is in her final year at Western CUNA Management School and the CUES CEO Institute, strengthening her executive leadership and strategic capability.

She also serves as a board member with the Global Women’s Leadership Network, AWAIC (Abused Women’s Aid In Crisis) and as an Executive Leader for the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women initiative.
