Anchorage, Alaska – February 29, 2024 – The Asian Alaskan Cultural Center (AACC) is proud to announce it will be hosting its Anchorage Mayoral Candidates Forum dedicated to engaging with the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities of Anchorage. This forum will provide a platform for dialogue and interaction between mayoral candidates and AAPI community members, fostering a deeper understanding of the issues that matter most to these vibrant and diverse communities.
This event is sponsored and hosted by AACC with its eight member countries: China, India, Japan, Korea, Laos, Philippines, Thailand and Nepal. It will take place at 4-5:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the Northwood Elementary School multipurpose room, 4807 Northwood Drive.
Participating candidates include Mayor Dave Bronson; Suzanne LaFrance; Bill Popp; Chris Tuck; Breck Craig; Dustin Darden; Jenny DiGrappa; and Phil Isley.
AACC, along with several other AAPI organizations including the Polynesian Association of Alaska, Pacific Community of Alaska, Alaska Federation of Filipino Americans, Rise AAPI Alaska, Make Us Visible Alaska and Filipino American National Historical Society, Alaska Chapter have come together for this significant event.
The forum will be moderated by veteran journalist Rhonda McBride. Saroj Bhattaral will serve as the timekeeper.
Following the forum, all attendees are invited to a reception where they can socialize, mingle, and enjoy delicious food provided by the Asian Alaskan Cultural Center and other participating AAPI organizations.
