Event Description:
Join the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) for the 36th Avenue Interchange Virtual Open House on March 16 at 12:00 – 1:30 pm or 5:00 – 7:00 pm. This Virtual Open House will be hosted over Zoom (information about how to participate is below).
The DOT&PF is proposing to improve safety and reduce delays by constructing a new inter-change at the intersection of Seward Highway and 36th Avenue. The Seward Highway: 36th Avenue Interchange project will improve safety and reduce delays for all travel modes (pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists, and transit riders), extend the controlled access freeway and frontage road network through the 36th Avenue intersection, separate local trips from through trips, and complete the network for non-motorized users. Planned improvements include grade separations, highway ramps, non-motorized facilities, and new frontage roads connecting Tudor Road to 36th Avenue.
This project will:
- Improve facilities for pedestrians and bicyclists
- Increase safety
- Support the separation of local trips from through trips
- Reduce delays
Meeting materials, including the prerecorded presentation, will be posted to the project website by March 12. Questions and comments emailed to the project team in advance of the meeting are encouraged. The open house will start with a presentation, followed by a review of questions received in advance, and then open Q&A with the project team in two breakout rooms.
