Following the 2022 hybrid event, the Anchorage Chamber's Young Professionals Group (YPG) is proud to host the 2023 Alaska Young Professionals Summit, a two-day conference to develop Alaska's workforce and prepare, motivate, and inspire attendees to be informed, productive leaders.
At the annual Summit,
Jessica Rae Vos, Spacecraft Systems Engineer, NASA
Jessica is a passionate, proven leader with a diverse background in aerospace systems engineering, project management, and human health & performance. Born and raised in the remote city of Chugiak, Alaska, she has an innate appreciation for human survival in extreme environments. Jessica began her NASA career as a cooperative education student at Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX and quickly became enthralled with the design and development of complex life support systems that enable the “human” aspect of space exploration. Jessica spent much of her early career supporting the Advanced Spacesuit Systems Development Laboratory, where she led multi-disciplinary teams in the execution of human-in-the-loop evaluations in various spaceflight analog environments (including the reduced-gravity aircraft, aka “the Vomit Comet” and the Neutral Buoyancy Lab) and developed innovative approaches to assessing human performance in a spacesuit. She has since been recognized for her outstanding contributions and leadership across multiple directorates and human-spaceflight programs based out of JSC. Jessica currently supports the Orion Program’s Vehicle Integration Office as the Crew Systems Lead and is responsible for leading system-level trades, integrating government and contractor-provided systems, executing verification test activities, and resolving complex design challenges to ensure Orion’s capability to support crewed Artemis missions to the moon and beyond. Jessica holds a BS in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a Masters in Fitness & Human Performance from University of Houston, Clear Lake. She is also an ACE-certified Group Fitness Instructor and teaches multiple group exercises classes a week, including indoor cycle and Yoga. Jessica also served as Chair of the Women Excelling in Life & Leadership (WELL) Employee Resource Group (ERB) in 2019 with the goal of empowering individuals to engage in the expanding spaceflight industry with confidence, authenticity, well-being & balance in all aspects of their lives! Jessica fuels her adventurous spirit with travel, hiking and backpacking across the U.S., as well as being a mom to two wonderfully crazy, joy-sparking kiddos (ages 13 & 10).
