Cancer is the leading cause of death in Alaska, and Alaskans with geographical barriers to medical care, in addition to those who are economically disadvantaged, are more likely to develop and die from the disease than the general population. Your support of the American Cancer Society in our state helps to provide free programs and services for Alaskans facing cancer, including rides to and from appointments, flights and lodging when treatment is required far from home, and much-needed emotional support. 70% of the patients served are low-income, under-insured, and currently battling for their lives.
